Are you an outstanding teacher excited about working with kids with high potential to achieve extraordinary things?
For 25+ years, we’ve been making the magic happen for gifted learners across New Zealand. Currently, 700+ children from 280+ schools participate in MindPlus programmes each week in our dedicated learning spaces or online, using our specialist NZCGE curriculum. We’re on a mission to ensure all Kiwi kids who need us can access our support, regardless of their parents' income, and in a way which respects their cultural identity.
We're looking for a terrific teacher to join our Hutt unit (Rātā Street School), 3 days a week (Weds, Thurs and Fri) with 3 small, mixed-age classes of gifted learners. This could be a new career direction for you or an opportunity to build specialist gifted expertise for a few years before returning to mainstream. This role is initially fixed term until the end of 2022, with likelihood of continuation into 2023.
We are after someone who:
Connects with diverse young people, their whānau and communities
Works effectively in a 1:1 Chromebook classroom set-up
Enjoys differentiating learning for diverse students
Works collaboratively as part of a team (face to face and by distance)
Is well organised
Is happy to take on project leadership from time to time eg in course design, assessment
We will support your learning journey about giftedness and provide training in our specialist curriculum, wherever your starting point.
You will need a current NZ Practising Certificate (full 1 or 2). Our preference is for fully COVID vaccinated.
Visits to our classes are encouraged and can be arranged, and you can find out more about us at: https://www.nzcge.nz/teachwithus
Applications close 1st August. Start date week beginning 15 August, with three days of paid induction and professional learning in the week before starting teaching.
